I am an Ivor Novello Award winning composer, platinum selling songwriter, music producer and performer working across theatre, contemporary composition, opera and artist led music. What matters to me is not range for its own sake, but authorship. I am building a distinct artistic world of my own, one that brings sound, story and live performance into the same space, and gives each of them greater depth, scale and meaning.
“A breath of fresh air. Very atmospheric.”

My composition The Vision They Had, from The Windrush Suite, received an Ivor Novello Award and opened a deeper chapter in my work around memory, heritage and intergenerational storytelling. In 2026, I am Artist in Residence at Kings Place as part of Memory Unwrapped, where I will lead the first live performances of The Windrush Suite and Echo in the Bones, bringing this body of work to the stage for the first time. The residency culminates in the world premiere of Remember Us Tomorrow, the third and final chapter in this body of work. I also serve as a Board Director and the Chair of the Membership committe at The Ivors Academy.
“Renell is a multi-talented producer and songwriter who has been instrumental in the making of our songs.”

My recent theatre work includes The Crucible and Othello at Shakespeare’s Globe, Black Power Desk at Brixton House, and Is God Is at the Royal Court. I am currently developing a new opera with Music Theatre Wales based on Yasuke, the African warrior whose story has gained renewed global attention in recent years. Set to premiere in 2027, the work extends my practice further into long form music drama and libretto. Across my career, I have also worked with artists including Rudimental, Anne-Marie, Nile Rodgers, Emeli Sandé and Nitin Sawhney, bringing the same musical intelligence and emotional instinct to projects that move between institutions, stages and audiences.
“Deeply rooted in the tradition of his ancestry, Renell Shaw is a remarkable musician and composer, an important voice of our time.”

I am also one half of 2fox with Max Sinàl. Through 2fox, another edge of my world comes into focus through soulful house, Afro rhythm and electronic music, building an international audience and generating tens of millions of streams. For me, range only matters if it is matched by depth. I am not interested in appearing across different platforms for the sake of visibility. I am interested in drawing them into one recognisable space that feels culturally grounded, musically expansive and unmistakably my own.
This site is part of that world. Welcome.
